Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Perseus website and services ("Perseus," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using Perseus, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

Perseus is a cloud-based web application that helps creators turn long-form videos into short vertical clips using automated transcription, analysis, rendering, and optional publishing tools. Perseus is offered as a hosted service only; there is no self-hosted product version.

Features and availability may change during our private alpha. We may add, modify, or remove features without prior notice.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Perseus.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
• Access during private alpha may require an invite code, manual approval, or both. We may refuse or revoke access at our discretion.
• We may require multi-factor authentication (MFA). You are responsible for maintaining access to your authentication methods.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of videos and other material you upload ("User Content"). You grant Perseus a limited license to host, process, transcode, analyze, store (as described below), and display User Content solely to operate and improve the service.

Source uploads are ephemeral. Original long-form uploads are used for processing and are deleted after your job completes (or after a short safety window for stuck jobs). We do not persist your full source file as part of your library.

Clips are stored. Derived clip outputs (for example final renders, captioned variants, and thumbnails) are stored in your account until you delete them. Storage is subject to plan quotas.

You represent that you have all rights necessary to upload and process User Content and to publish clips to connected social accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you do not have rights to use, or that violates law or third-party rights.
• Use Perseus to distribute malware, spam, or unlawful material.
• Attempt to bypass security, quotas, access controls, or rate limits.
• Reverse engineer or scrape the service except as permitted by law.
• Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others.

We may use automated systems to score or flag content for compliance; these outputs are informational and not a guarantee of platform or legal compliance.

5. Storage, quotas, and billing

Free and paid tiers include storage limits for persisted clips. When you reach your limit, new uploads may be blocked until an administrator frees completed clip storage for your account (contact us from the address on your account), or until abandoned failed jobs are removed automatically after 48 hours. Plan details and pricing may change; we will provide notice before paid features are enforced where required by law.

6. Third-party services and publishing

Perseus integrates with third-party platforms (for example TikTok, Meta, Google/YouTube) when you choose to connect accounts or publish. Your use of those platforms is governed by their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party outages, policy changes, removals, or account actions taken by those platforms.

When you connect a social account, you authorize Perseus to act on your behalf to publish content you explicitly schedule or request through the product.

7. AI and automated processing

Perseus uses automated and AI-assisted tools (including third-party APIs) for transcription, clip selection, scoring, captions, thumbnails, and related features. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing clips before publishing.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use personal information. By using Perseus, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

PERSEUS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CLIPS WILL PERFORM ON ANY PLATFORM.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PERSEUS AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (OR USD $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US).

11. Termination

You may stop using Perseus at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends; we may delete account data according to our Privacy Policy and retention practices.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-product notice where appropriate. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
